The Fall Arts d’Vine event is this Friday, October 16th.  RAIN OR SHINE!  Artists, wineries, and musicians are all inside.  Open to the public.  FREE…unless, of course, you desire to pay a small $5 cover charge to taste the best of North Carolina wineries and Micro Breweries or purchase by the glass or bottle!  Local food purveyors will offer their tasty tidbits to stave away those evil hunger pangs.  Stay late and enjoy a free concert from 9 to 11 PM in Harmon Park featuring Nashville Recording Artist Danny Crouse and Nashville Recording Artist/Songwriter Tammy Davis.  Don’t miss this celebration of Triad culture while getting to know Downtown Kernersville!

For this event only, I will have several paintings reduced to a Special Arts d’Vine Event Sale price.  Stop by and do some early Christmas shopping!

If you are in the area this Friday, October 2nd, come enjoy the First Friday Downtown Arts Tour in Greensboro and stop by to say hi.  I am the Featured Artist for the Heart of Living Gallery exhibiting at the Chamber of Commerce.  Other artists are also showing at the Chamber as well.  Numerous galleries downtown participate in First Friday “Art Hop” representing local artists…so come mingle, enjoy some fine art and refreshments, and make an evening of it.  The time is from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  The Chamber where I am exhibiting is located at 342 North Elm Street across from the Marriott Hotel parking garage.  Hope to see you there!

All paintings are for sale through Heart of Living and will remain on exhibit at the Chamber for the following 2-3 weeks in October, so if you can’t make it on Friday, feel free to stop by one day during the week and walk through.  Paintings are located in the hallways on the first and second floors.

September ended with the smell of Fall permeating the air as fire blazed in the back pasture consuming a pile of discarded debris from recently cleared land.  A single wisp of blue smoke can still be seen spiraling upward from the remaining embers of yesterday’s bonfire.  As the sun peeps over a bank of clouds on the eastern horizon, it catches a glimpse of its reflection in the silvery lake nestled at the foot of the hill.  Meanwhile, the warmth of the first rays of sunlight gently nudge nature awake heralding a new day. Welcome, October!

I’m in the studio today adding texture upon texture to three canvases as I attempt to achieve the look and feel I’m going for.  Once each reaches its “pause point”, I will attach the two smaller canvases to the larger canvas and the three will become one.  Then the final layers of color will be added.  I’m feeling some anticipation and excitement as I experiment and see where this painting is taking me…..

I’m also toying with an idea for another large 4 foot x 5 foot painting and wondering if I’m really ready to tackle another “big” one….as they can be quite challenging not only to paint but to haul around and store.  We’ll see…..

As the sun peeps over the distant eastern hill and nature begins to awaken, the warmth of the sun kisses the cool morning dew on the rolling hills and creates a low dense fog hugging the ground like a fuzzy comfortable blanket.  The cows begin to stir and the birds begin to sing….ahhhh….the beginning of yet another beautiful September morning.
